Metropolitan Management is a musical theatre agency for dancers, singers and actors, specialising in finding dance and musical theatre auditions for our performers from our offices in London and Paris.

The agency was founded in 2008 by Dan Blumenau and Lynsey Platts, and now represents over 60 dancers, singers and actors in two countries. Our clients have attended the most prestigious dance and theatre schools in the world, and are subsequently always of the highest quality.

In 2011, Metropolitan Management opened an office in Paris to better connect the agency to a huge network of opportunities around Europe.

Who we are

Dan Blumenau

Dan started his career as an actor, and after appearing in TV, film and West End productions he decided he would make the switch to being behind the scenes. He started as Assistant Agent at SCA Management, where he remained until 2005. Since then, Dan has worked as both an Associate Casting Director and Producer for shows including: Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Palace Theatre), Thriller Live (Lyric Theatre, UK and International Tour), Piaf (Vaudeville Theatre), Dancing in the Streets (UK Tour), It’s A Wonderful Life (Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich), The King and I (Royal Albert Hall), Grease (Piccadilly Theatre), Flashdance (West End & UK Tour), Chicago (UK Tour), Sound of Music (UK Tour), Zorro (Garrick Theatre), Footloose (UK Tour), The Show Girls (Arts Theatre, London), Cacophony (UK Tour), Gangs of Verona (UK and International Tour), Soho Circus (UK and International Tour), Streetdance 2 (Vertigo Films) and So You Think You Can Dance (BBC Television).

In 2010, Dan’s work as Associate Casting Director contributed in great part to the following award nominations: PRISCILLA – QUEEN OF THE DESERT (Theatregoer’s Choice Awards: Best New Musical - Winner, Best Actor in a Musical: Jason Donavon, Best Actor in a Musical:Tony Sheldon, Best Supporting Actor in a Musical: Oliver Thornton – Winner.), THRILLER! LIVE (Theatregoer’s Choice Awards: Best New Musical).

However, Dan is probably best known for his part in the creation Debbie O'Brien Casting Facebook page. While employed for the West End casting director Debbie O'Brien, Dan created the "first of it's kind" page to help those looking for information regarding dance and musical theatre auditions. The page was an instant success, being "liked" by over 2,000 people in under 24 hours and now has over 15,000 people subscribed to the page, group and email list. In 2011, the page posts were viewed 530,000 times by actors, singers and dancers looking for their next audition.

Dan's extensive experience in casting and management puts him in a unique position to understand the needs and challenges faced by London's Casting Directors and subsequently gives his clients a perfect opportunity to get the auditions and jobs they want.

Lynsey Platts

Trained at Laine Theatre Arts, Lynsey's has worked for over 10 years at the highest levels in the dance world. Lynsey started her career as Dance Captain and Swing for the Disney Cruise Line aboard the DISNEY WONDER. It was the start of a long lasting relationship between her and the Walt Disney Company, when she was asked to return to the company in Toronto as Assistant Choreographer to Ed Whitlow.

Following this, Lynsey toured Japan and Korea with platinum selling artist Jade Villalon on her SWEETBOX tour, performing in front of thousands of people every night. Lynsey then returned to the UK to play Maria in the UK Tour of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER and was subsequently offered the part of Cha Cha on the UK Tour of GREASE. Her success with Choreographer Arlene Phillips continued when she was asked to return to play Cha Cha in the West End production of GREASE at the Victoria Palace in London’s West End and then to appear in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER in the West End’s Apollo Victoria.

In between her West End engagements, Lynsey was honoured to be asked to undertake the role of Dance Captain for the opening ceremony of the world’s richest horse race, the DUBAI WORLD CUP on the beaches of the prestigious Burj Al Arab hotel. This was followed by a dream job as a Backing Dancer for Sarah Brightman on her HAREM WORLD TOUR, where Lynsey had the honour of dancing in front of sold out arena’s including Boston Garden, Los Angeles’ Staples Center, and New York's Madison Square Garden.

After 10 years of success in the UK and abroad, Lynsey co-founded Metropolitan Management, where her extensive experience and expertise in dance gives the talent agency the artistic side of it's business. Her knowledge of "how to be a dancer" and willingness to share her knowledge gives the dancers on her books the best possible preparation before an audition.
